Proverbs 26:11

I actually wrote this blog back in 2009 on facebook. It got some heat. Well tonight we were discussing some stuff in our youth group and this verse came up and reminded me of this note I wrote. Took forever to find it. With a little editing to repair some horrible typos. Enjoy.

As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly. Proverbs 26:11

If you have ever noticed most dogs tend to return back to its vomit and tends to clean up after its self. gross yes I know. But as the verse says we do the same thing. except ours is on the level of sin. we are like the dog because of the fact we will keep returning to that sin and keep picking it right back up. Kinda makes me a little sick to my stomach to think about it like that. To think that I’m just like a dog who will eat his own vomit. And the bible clearly continues to say this all through the bible. but of course in less disgusting ways.

Romans 3:11 says there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks after God.”
2nd peter 2:22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

Personally look at the bible and I’m ashamed of myself. It convicts me and points to the fact that as I’ve said we suck when it comes to the standards that God has laid before us in His laws. With that thought if God was fair he should allow us roll around in our sins and take our eternal punishment. The great thing is he chose to save us. He gave us His son as a sacrifice to save us and renew for his Glory. But yet some of us continue to go back and get our sins. My question to you is what is your sin that you keep going back to? Why won’t you lay it at the cross and fully surrender to God?
