Respect for the Word

Over the last couple years, I have noticed that people are starting to disrespect the teaching of the Word of God. Some think the pastor is going too long, or that they need to be somewhere else. So we jingle keys, point at our watches, play with our cell phones or in extreme case look like baseball players giving signs.

Point is this is disrespectful to Gods word. We act like its not more important than whats waiting for us in the world. I’ll take the chance to be blunt. God’s Word is more important than anything you will hear the rest of the day. That football game can wait, you are not going to die from starvation, or that family event can hold off for a few seconds. Because disrespecting God’s Word is not dangerous but it’s a sin. God’s Word is to be treasured, to be guarded in our heart, to be yearned for, but never under any circumstance disrespected. Know what’s funny, we get annoyed with a long winded preacher, the nation of Israel would stand while Moses sat and read God’s Word to them. He would read for from morning to evening.
