Remember the reason

Psalm 100:4-5 ESV
Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
and his courts with praise!
Give thanks to him; bless his name!
For the Lord is good;
his steadfast love endures forever,
and his faithfulness to all generations.

As we enter into the holiday season of 2012 we are to remember why. Though Jesus was not born on December 25th, we use this day to honor his birth, to celebrate his life, to worship and be thankful for Christ has done. As Christians we get too caught up in the non reasons of the season. Such as decorating, presents, and food. When we should in the end be looking at the reason. The reason that this holiday was created, the idea that Christ, the Son of God stepped out of Heaven, came to earth as a baby, walked the road that led to Calvary. Why so he could pay the price of our sins on the cross. Christmas is just as much about the Cross as Easter is. Yet we tend to forget this during the madness of Thanksgiving and Christmas. Acting like fools fighting over that last Ipad, must have toy, or even turkey. So brothers and sisters I urge you to remember who you are, why we are so excited during this time of the year. Show thanksgiving and honor for Christ and what he has done. Then finally as we get into the madness of Christmas shopping, showing the love of Christ and representing him in a lost world as we are supposed to do. Sharing the Gospel, as a popular song says,

Go, Tell It On The Mountain,
Over the hills and everywhere;
Go, Tell It On The Mountain
That Jesus Christ is born.

Who are you going to tell this year?
