As we enter into the last mad rush before Christmas. I wonder what do you have planned for the actual day. Gift opening, dinner with family and friends, Christmas party. Something I have tried to do as a tradition that I hope will carry on into my family once I have one is I try to watch the Passion of the Christ. The reason is because as we are celebrating the birth, the shadow of the cross looms. We tend to forget about the nature of where this new born babe is going and try to cuddle it up and put the cross in the back of our mind. Though the cross is the reason that this baby was born. It was his purpose and will to die on that cross for you and myself. So my question to you this Christmas is, will you remember the cross, will you remember that God has stepped out of heaven into the flesh of this little baby so he can die for you and me, will you remember that this baby is your scapegoat? (scapegoat is a term that was derived from the fact Israel would lead a goat out of the city as a representative of one carrying the sins out of the city, Jesus was led out of the city to a cross where he carried our sins.) The one who took the blame for all your sins? Think about it this Holiday Season.
Merry Christmas to all you.
