The Walking Dead

As humans we tend to do one thing more than often, and that is compare ourselves to other people to see how we are doing. We see if we are making more money than our neighbors, if our kids behave better than that persons, or how good of a person I am by how I act. This last one is simple though. There is no one good. Were do I get this. God tells us this in Romans.

12 All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.”
Romans 3:12 ESV

23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Romans 3:23 ESV

23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23

Why does God say this because we are all sinners and are spiritually dead. Our Souls are dead upon birth in this world. And at this point like a dead body our soul starts to decay because of the choice Adam made in the Garden. When he sinned we all sinned with him. Thus We are the walking dead. So when a person who does not know Christ as their savior says well I’m better than that person, they are just at different levels of spiritual decay. They are comparing dead souls. The longer our soul is in this world the longer it has to decay.

But here is the good news. Unlike in most zombie movies or TV shows there is a cure to our walking dead. That cure is found in the love and mercy of Jesus Christ our Savor. Because of him, my soul is alive, just as Jesus called Lazarus forward out of the tomb, so did he call my soul out of death into life. My soul is no longer decaying but is alive and growing in Gods word. Does this mean I don’t sin. I still have to deal with sin in my life daily. Its a battle that I have to fight from within. But I am no longer a member of the walking dead. So look at yourself and see are you the walking dead? Or do you know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior? If so what are you doing as a living soul to Glorify God?
