I apologize for the wait on this last part. I had a schedule change at work and it has thrown me off. So here we are the final installment of this series that I call the challenge ahead. Lets take a look at the verses.
“When your son asks you in time to come, ‘What is the meaning of the testimonies and the statutes and the rules that the Lord our God has commanded you?’ then you shall say to your son, ‘We were Pharaoh’s slaves in Egypt. And the Lord brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand. And the Lord showed signs and wonders, great and grievous, against Egypt and against Pharaoh and all his household, before our eyes. And he brought us out from there, that he might bring us in and give us the land that he swore to give to our fathers. And the Lord commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as we are this day. And it will be righteousness for us, if we are careful to do all this commandment before the Lord our God, as he has commanded us.”
So here is the end of the chapter six of Deuteronomy and God has one final thing for us dads. We are to explain the reasons for the testimonies of God and his greatness. we are to explain why God has created His Word and the commands that we are to follow. Why do our testimonies matter to our Children. Because they are about us. Just as God brought the nation of Israel out Egypt so did God bring us out of slavery to sin. We were forced to heed its call before finding Christ. The reason for the commands are to protect us spiritually and keep us in Gods will. That finally when we go home to God we will simply be in a place of greatness and holiness. It all starts with us though. Its starts with how we follow God, how we share to our children, how we explain how we find Christ. What our children see and hear from us will determine how they accept Gods word. If we ignore Gods word and act as if we don’t care about Gods Word, most likely that is how our children will act. That is why I named this series the challenge ahead because simply it is a challenge to live up to the spiritual leader we are to be to our children. To follow Gods Word, because we do fall because we are still tested daily by sinful temptations. So how will you handle the challenge of being a Father standing on Gods Word?
