Reaction to the Confederate Flag and the SBC

First I would like to say I am southern baptist and have always been an avid supporter of the confederate flag and the idea of a weak central government with strong state government. So when the SBC decided to vote that the flag not be shown in church’s anymore I was like man. Why? Its the Southern Baptist Convention we are from the south.

Then a friend shared a post that reminded me Tthat we have one allegiance. We have an allegiance to God and the Kingdom of Heaven!!! That even that flag will fall when the Earth ends. As a Christian honestly, we should celebrate this, because simply it is removing a stumbling block for the lost coming to Christ. If you think about it, if someone whom was offended came to a church for the first time and they seen the flag hanging there, they are not going to care what the Word of God says that day. They will simply remember that flag. I feel the flag should be in museums and history books to keep the history of the confederacy strong and alive, in our churches it has no place. Because we do not unite under a man made banner, but one paid for by the Cross. We are the bride of Christ with one major calling and that is to take the Gospel to the ends of the earth. How will we do that if we can’t even get over the idea of taking down a a flag? So in the end lets remember we are of the kingdom of God first, not of the United States or the Confederacy. That all of this is going to pass away. That our calling is to take the Gospel to the world.

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I sawt he holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God,prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place[a] of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people,[b] and God himself will be with them as their God.[c] He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
Revelation 21 1:4

**I do not agree with slavery or believe that slavery is right.
