Not Convicted?

“Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.” Proverbs ¬†28:13

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1st John 19:3

Sin, we all have it. Its been around since Adam and Eve roamed The Garden. They were convicted when they realized they were naked that is why they hid, because they feared God seeing their nakedness. The thing to look at was they knew they had screwed up, of course God being just kicked them out of the garden, but He showed mercy in not killing them on the spot.

So now lets take a look at our lives. We should be convicted of our sins and seeking to come before God and repent. What’s crazy if you talk to a lot of Christians they are not convicted about their sin in their lives, they are not seeking to repent. How do you know Christians are not repenting or acknowledging their sin because the church is treading water. When we don’t acknowledge our sin and repent it is a hindrance in seeing where God is working around us and in us. A lot of times that sin we don’t want to give up is usually what we put before God. Be it idols, sexual sin, lies, etc. We complain that we aren’t seeing revival in our communities and its because we are not first coming back to God on our knees, weeping for our failures and for the lost in our communities. We can not see where God is working if we ignore the ¬†very conviction He places in our life.

God does use people even in their sin to do good things. So I’m not saying even with sin in our lives we can’t do good. Because in human eyes even some lost people do good in this world as examples think of Oprah and Ellen. What I’m talking about is on a spiritual level. Its so hard to see what God is doing around us if we are blinded by our very sin and until we repent we will continue to miss opportunities that God places right before us. Until we repent we won’t have true peace and freedom in Christ. Until we repent the church will continue to tread water because we are stumbling blocks to the lost. So fellow Christians lets get on our knees repent, and renew our hearts and minds with the Gospel. Because we need a heart check.
