Sermon notes 6-11 Jason Walton

Acts 7:51-8:8
You can have faith and not be outspoken. But there is not a lot of faith in that.
Christians are not popular in this world today. You might even lose facebook friends

Stephen had a chance to recant, to turn against Christ.  Are we going to stand up for Jesus or be silent.
Stephen is attacked with hatred and rage because he called out their sin.

It is easy to have integrity when things are rosy, look at yourself when life is falling apart. As Stephen was stoned he cried out for Jesus to receive his spirit. In the midst of the difficult situation he cried out to God not for the people to start.
He forgave and asked God to forgive the very ones who were stoning him to death.
It brings you back to the cross, when Jesus cried out for God to forgive them because they do not know what they do.
If you mirror Jesus, you will face persecution.  Examine your life you don’t see persecution because your life might be lacking.

Saul consented to the sin by saying nothing. We do the same when we don’t call sin out.
Saul was arresting people and putting them in prison.
The people scattered and ran, but preached the word as they went.
There are people that are laying down their lives for Jesus. Preach Jesus until you die.
Its funny when all you have is Jesus he is all you need.

It may cost you everything to follow Jesus. Keeping following Jesus.
